An outbuilding of a residence caught fire, and the flames were successfully contained to that area, preventing damage to adjacent structures. The outbuilding was home to a man who is now displaced, according to the fire department commander.
João Leal reported that the “municipal social services have already arranged temporary accommodation” for the individual.
The fire alert was issued at 17:31 on Rua das Bocas in the center of Viseu. The operation involved 24 personnel supported by 12 vehicles from the Volunteer Firefighters and Sapadores of Viseu, PSP, and the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
