A 29-year-old man, subject to a European arrest warrant issued by national authorities, has been apprehended by the Judiciary Police (PJ) for robbery in Marinha Grande.
According to a statement from the PJ, the case dates back to 2020, involving robberies characterized by physical violence that took place in Viseu.
“As a result, the man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison but had remained at large and untraceable until now,” the statement reads.
The PJ further reported that in 2021, “in the context of another investigation, the man was identified as the perpetrator of multiple armed robberies,” this time occurring in Coimbra, “although it was not possible to notify him or bring him to trial.”
“Efforts undertaken by the Northern Directorate early Friday morning have now led to his transportation to the Prison Services to serve the two and a half year sentence imposed by the 2021 judicial decision.”
