The total amount allocated comprises 45 million euros in subsidies and compensatory indemnities for the media, 20 million euros for RTP’s reorganization and modernization plan, 17 million euros for the media action plan, and eight million euros for Lusa’s restructuring plan.

These figures are outlined in a chart detailing exceptional expenses dedicated to the media sector.

For the coming year, the Government anticipates an exceptional expenditure of 29,935,978 euros for Lusa, compared to 21,505,860 euros in last year’s proposal, marking an increase of approximately 39.2%.

The adaptations for Lusa and RTP aim to align the agency and the public broadcaster with the “technological modernization needs.”

The Government has increased its stake in Lusa’s share capital from 50.2% to 97.3% since 2024, continuing “efforts to acquire full control of the company.”

Regarding RTP, the Government indicated plans to complete the review of the public service concession contract next year.

The Government estimates allocating 215.7 million euros to RTP and “supporting the media as part of the Incentive Regime for Media, managed by #PortugalMediaLab due to the transfer of responsibilities from Culture,” with a specific allocation fully financed by tax revenue, including the audiovisual contribution.

In total, the program aimed at supporting media and combating misinformation proposes a budget of 314 million euros.
