An accident involving two vehicles occurred in Cabecinha de Rei, in the municipality of Santa Comba Dão, at 08:57. The fatal victims were a 61-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, a couple traveling in a car with French registration plates, according to the Viseu GNR.
The collision between the two light vehicles, on a straight with a double continuous line, also resulted in another victim in serious condition, a 43-year-old man.
The seriously injured person, transported to the Hospital of Viseu, was traveling with his family in a vehicle with Swiss registration plates.
The three minor injuries sustained in the accident included a 42-year-old woman and children aged 12 and 14.
According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, the rescue operation involved 28 personnel and nine vehicles.
