
According to the European statistical service data, among the EU member states with available data, Luxembourg recorded the highest year-on-year increases in total retail trade volume at 9.4%, followed by Bulgaria at 5.4% and Cyprus at 5.0%.
The largest decreases were observed in Slovakia with a decline of 2.9%, Poland at 1.8%, and Italy at 1.4%.
Comparing March to February, the most significant declines were seen in Slovenia at 2.0%, Estonia at 1.3%, and Slovakia at 0.9%.
Conversely, the most notable increases were reported in Malta at 2.0%, while both Belgium and Croatia saw a rise of 1.4%, and Bulgaria experienced a 1.1% increase.
In Portugal, retail sales in March rose by 3.9% compared to the same month in 2024, but saw a decrease of 0.5% compared to February.
