Tobacco vending machines generated 650 million euros, contributing significantly to the sector’s revenue, while the segment for hot beverages accounted for approximately 12% of the earnings.

An analysis by Informa D&B forecasts that the prominence of tobacco vending machines in sector revenue will decline in the short to medium term. Meanwhile, the rise in tourism demand and changes in consumption habits are expected to boost the sales of solid food and hot beverages.
“Among other key trends, the analysis highlights the increased market share of machines offering a wider range of products, the rise in healthy food options and non-food products, as well as technological innovations in the machines themselves,” the document from Informa D&B states.
At the end of 2024, Portugal’s vending machine park consisted of approximately 100,000 units.
