Almost all of the revenue was obtained through taxes (15.2 billion escudos, 137.8 million euros), marking the first quarter with the highest collection to date.
The amount collected in taxes during the first quarter of 2025 is nearly double that of the first quarter of 2015.
On the expense side, total expenditure increased by 5% in the first three months of this year, year-on-year, reaching 16 billion escudos (145 million euros), also a record for any first quarter in the same series.
The revenue and expenditure figures follow growth trends that were already in evidence.
Cape Verde registered 7% more total revenue in 2024 than the previous year, reaching 69.5 billion escudos (630 million euros), while total expenditure grew by 10% to 71.3 billion escudos (646 million euros), according to statistics released in March by the central bank.
