Ricardo Quaresma expresses “solidarity” with the Turkish people

Quaresma represented Besiktas from 2010 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2019, until he moved to Kasimpasa, where he spent one season before returning to Portugal

The Portuguese Ricardo Quaresma today expressed his “solidarity” with the people of Turkey, a country that suffered a devastating earthquake and where the footballer competed for Besiktas and Kasimpasa.

“I want to express all my solidarity with the Turkish people in these difficult times they are going through. My prayers are with the families of the victims,” wrote the Portuguese international on his account on the social network Instagram.

Quaresma represented Besiktas from 2010 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2019, until he moved to Kasimpasa, where he spent one season before returning to Portugal for Vitória de Guimarães, and is an idol of Turkish fans.

The earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale that struck southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border today and left more than 1,300 people dead was one of the strongest recorded in the last 100 years.

The quake occurred at 04:17 (01:17 in Lisbon) today, 33 kilometers from the capital of the southeastern Turkish province of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria, at a depth of 17.9 kilometers.

For now, this early morning earthquake is estimated to have killed more than 1,300 people in Turkey and also in Syria.
