The most-watched documentary in Brazil in 2025, ‘Ritas,’ is set to premiere at this year’s Tribeca Festival, taking place from October 30 to November 1.
‘Ritas’ will debut on the festival’s first day in a tribute session “dedicated to the eternal queen of Brazilian rock, Rita Lee,” according to a statement from the film’s communications company.
The documentary will be screened only once at Teatro Ibérico in Lisbon, with directors Oswald Santana and Karen Harley present to engage with the audience in a Q&A session following the film.
‘Ritas’ offers an intense and emotional journey through the life and art of Rita Lee, featuring rare footage, personal archives, and her last unreleased interview, the statement adds.
The synopsis describes the documentary as a “process of ‘personal archaeology’” that uncovers a side of Rita Lee “never seen before: Rita the poet, composer, instrumentalist, writer, hermit, and muse”—a narrative guided by her own words through various interviews she gave throughout her career.
