Rui Tavares warns the electorate that “The Right doesn’t like rights very much”

“Things are open, and what we are doing is alerting people to vote, considering their rights in the face of a right-wing that doesn’t care much about rights,” stated Rui Tavares. According to him, the right-wing “is already very arrogant, counting on victory,” which prompted them to start discussing changes related to workers’ rights, the right to strike, consumer rights, and even human rights, including the AD, the IL, or the extreme right in this assessment.

On the seventh day of the campaign, Rui Tavares visited the Carcavelos Fair in Cascais, Lisbon, to emphasize the importance of rights. “When a person finds their rights violated and attempts to enforce them in court, only to discover that those rights have been removed from the Constitution or law, they’ll wonder, ‘Where were the rights I believed I had?’ I entrusted them to Luís [Montenegro] to safeguard, but perhaps Luís wasn’t very interested in protecting and expanding these rights,” he highlighted.

Rui Tavares affirmed his commitment to a left-wing approach that takes rights seriously, intending to maintain and expand them. “Everyone has rights, as stated in our Constitution,” he asserted.
