A Flixbus coach went out of control and struck at least 20 cars on Friday around 7 PM in Bragança.
The local radio Brigantia first reported the incident, which Flixbus later confirmed to Notícias ao Minuto.
“Late yesterday afternoon, Friday, October 31, around 7 PM, an incident occurred involving one of our coaches in the city of Bragança. The bus was empty and parked, resulting in only material damage,” the company stated.
According to Brigantia, the vehicle became unstuck, moved several meters down the street, and collided with parked cars in a residential area.
There were no drivers or passengers on the bus, and no injuries were reported even outside: “There are no records of any injuries,” assured Flixbus to Notícias ao Minuto.
“Flixbus immediately launched an internal inquiry in collaboration with its operational partner to determine the exact causes of the incident,” the company added, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and drivers remains a top priority.
It’s the third time in less than a year that a similar event has occurred.
This year marks the third such occurrence and the second involving a Flixbus coach. The two previous incidents happened at the Gare do Oriente in Lisbon.
In the first case, a Rede Expresso bus, also empty, hit a taxi and a terrace while the driver was near the door of the vehicle just moments before the incident. The damage was solely material.
The second incident involved a Flixbus coach, which also became unstuck and moved in a straight line toward the Gare, even mounting one of the sidewalks on its way.
As in the other incidents, the bus was empty, and no injuries were reported.
