A spokesperson for the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) confirmed that at 08:19 today, an alert was received regarding a Ryanair pilot, en route to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, experiencing a “quick recovery syncope” while flying. The pilot reportedly regained consciousness during the flight.
A Moreira da Maia Fire Brigade ambulance and a Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Pedro Hispano Hospital were dispatched to the airport, the INEM source added.
“The pilot was attended to at the scene but declined hospital transportation and remained at the airport,” the INEM representative stated.
The flight affected by the pilot’s syncope was scheduled to land in Porto at 08:35.
