A spokesperson from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) confirmed today that they received an alert at 08:19 about a Ryanair pilot en route to Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in the Porto district who experienced a “rapid recovery syncope” during the flight and “apparently recovered while still in the air.”
An ambulance from the Moreira da Maia Firefighters and a Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Pedro Hispano Hospital were dispatched to Sá Carneiro Airport, according to the same INEM source.
“The pilot received assistance on site but refused to go to the hospital and remained at the airport,” stated the INEM source.
The INEM also mentioned that the flight on which the pilot experienced the syncope was scheduled to arrive in Porto at 08:35.
Data from ANA Aeroporto’s website indicates that the only Ryanair flight that arrived this morning at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport from Barcelona (Spain) was flight FR 4587, which landed at 08:35 at Terminal 1.
Flight FR 4587 arrived on time and passengers have already disembarked.
Lusa attempted to contact a source from ANA Aeroportos but has not yet received any clarification on this incident.
