Her latest album, titled “Liberdade,” was produced by Diogo Clemente and released in October 2023.
In an interview with Lusa, the singer described herself as a “rebel” and stated, “The album is called ‘Liberdade’ because, as a fado singer, I feel, above all, that today we can’t hide behind anyone; we have to be ourselves, without any restraints.”
The album features compositions by Diogo Clemente, Joana Espadinha, Pedro Abrunhosa, Mila Dores, Nuno Figueiredo, and Carolina Deslandes, among others, and includes a rendition of “Balada de Outono” by José Afonso.
“Liberdade” follows the album “Do Coração,” which won the Play Award for Best Fado Album in 2022.
Sara Correia began singing at the age of 12 and won the Grande Noite do Fado de Lisboa at 13. She made her professional debut at the fado house Mesa de Frades in Lisbon, managed by guitarist Pedro de Castro, and has performed at other venues such as Bacalhau de Molho, Fado em Si, and Páteo de Alfama, all in Lisbon.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Sara Correia will perform at Praça do Comércio in Lisbon during the inauguration of the Christmas lights, alongside Ângelo Freire and the Orquestra do Tejo.
