
According to the National Authority for Civil Protection, 5,148 personnel were deployed, supported by 1,600 ground units and 42 aircraft.
The major fires are in Sátão, Viseu district, with 906 emergency and security personnel, 296 vehicles, and three aircraft engaged, and in Piódão, Arganil municipality, Coimbra district, where 892 personnel are combating the flames, supported by 305 ground units and six aircraft.
Both fires, which began on Wednesday, have spread to several neighboring municipalities. The fire in Sátão merged with another that originated on Sunday in Trancoso, Guarda district, forming a single large blaze.
