Sátão with two active fronts. Authorities report three minor injuries.

“At present, the fire affecting three municipalities has two active fronts. One, more towards the tail of the fire, is in the Sátão/Aguiar da Beira area, approximately 1.5 kilometers long,” stated the deputy commander of the Centro Civil Protection Regional Command at 10:15.

Jody Rato added that the second front “is in the municipality of Sernancelhe and has a front about 200 meters long,” with “two active fronts being fought using both land and aerial resources.”

“We are facing significant difficulty in terms of progression due to access issues, but the work carried out overnight was very positive and fruitful—we managed to substantially reduce the active fronts,” he highlighted.

He further emphasized, “the area is now considerably reduced, and the focus is on resolving the situation as soon as possible.”

Jody Rato noted that “at the moment, there are no villages at risk, although some localities are in the direction of the fire fronts. Continuous monitoring is in place so that, if necessary, any confinement or evacuation actions can be anticipated, but nothing is currently being defined.”

The operations commander on the ground also reported that, throughout Wednesday, there were “three civilians with minor injuries, nothing concerning, and they were attended to, with no further incidents reported” at this time.

The alert for this fire was issued at 1:03 a.m. on Wednesday in Vila Boa, Ferreira de Aves, in the municipality of Sátão, Viseu district, and spread on the same day to the municipalities of Sernancelhe, also in the Viseu district, and Aguiar da Beira, Guarda district.

As of 10:30, 441 operatives were combating the fire, supported by 139 vehicles and four aerial resources, according to the official page of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
