In Águas Boas, a fire continues to burn. Although conditions have improved, the blaze reached the village, damaging several sheds and many gardens, described as a calamity by Alexandre Vaz as of 19:00. Fortunately, no houses appear to have been affected, but sheds and gardens were consumed by the flames.
The mayor reported the deployment of several vehicles, with six actively working to prevent the situation from worsening, though the situation remains highly complicated.
In the area between Carrasqueira, Trabulo beach, and Senhora dos Caminhos, conditions have slightly improved, with the fire advancing more calmly, added the president of the Sátão Municipality in Viseu district.
“We fear it might reach the EN229 road and cross to the other side, which would be extremely problematic,” he expressed. Additionally, he voiced concerns about the possibility of the Aguiar da Beira fire moving towards this area, complicating matters further.
Vaz noted the absence of a detailed assessment of the burned area or damages, as the fire could change its path unpredictably. The timeline for containment remains uncertain, with the situation liable to shift at any moment.
The fire alert was raised at 01:03 on Wednesday in Vila Boa, Ferreira de Aves, within Sátão, Viseu district, later spreading to Sernancelhe, also in the Viseu district, and to Aguiar da Beira in the Guarda district.
By 19:25, the firefight involved 609 personnel, supported by 196 vehicles and eight aerial units, according to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
