
In a statement, a representative from the Póvoa de Lanhoso Volunteer Firefighters in the Braga district reported that personnel remained on site until 10:00 PM performing “mop-up operations” in the scrubland area of the Brunhais parish.
“There is no indication of rekindling risk,” they added.
A source from the Ave Sub-regional Command stated that the fire, which was alerted at 11:42 AM, was declared under control by 4:30 PM.
The firefighting efforts involved 130 personnel, supported by 36 vehicles and eight aerial resources including planes and helicopters.
