Super Bock and Live Nation have announced a partnership that will kick off on September 5, 2026, with a concert by The Weeknd at the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon.
“The Super Bock Super Rock festival is evolving from its traditional three-day summer festival format into a series of concerts throughout the year featuring global music phenomena,” the announcement revealed.
This new approach to the festival, which first launched in 1995, aims to address evolving live music consumption trends.
Super Bock and Live Nation highlighted that festival-goers increasingly value unique, exclusive experiences close to the artists and seek to enjoy them on a continuous basis.
The concerts under the Super Bock Super Rock (SBSR) banner will always offer “a ticket pre-sale and several exclusive initiatives to be unveiled soon, promising to extend the experience beyond the stage.”
Ticket pre-sales for The Weeknd’s performance are set to begin on October 15 via the website www.superbocksuperock.pt.
This will mark The Weeknd’s fourth performance in Portugal. He previously appeared at the Primavera Sound festival in Porto in 2012, the Alive festival in Oeiras in 2017, and at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés in 2023 for a solo concert.
The Weeknd returns to Portugal as part of his “After Hours til Dawn” world tour, which will see European concerts supported by American rapper Playboi Carter, a collaborator on the Canadian musician’s latest album.
In January of this year, The Weeknd released “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” an album concluding a trilogy that began in 2020 with “After Hours” and also includes “Dawn FM.”
The first edition of SBSR took place in 1995 in Lisbon, and up until the 28th edition in 2024 in Sesimbra, it was organized by Música no Coração, led by promoter Luís Montez.
Last November, it was revealed that the partnership between Música no Coração and Super Bock, concerning the music festival, had ended.
The 29th edition of SBSR, which was scheduled for July this year, did not occur. In March of this year, Super Bock announced the festival’s return in 2026.
Since its inception, SBSR has been hosted at various locations. It debuted at the Gare Marítima de Alcântara in Lisbon, later taking place at locations such as the Passeio Marítimo de Algés in Oeiras, Parque Tejo and Parque das Nações in Lisbon, and Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta near Meco Beach in Sesimbra.
