Scorpions open the first of three days of Marés Vivas in Vila Nova de Gaia

Over three days, two of which are already sold out, the former Madalena de Vila Nova de Gaia campsite in Portugal’s Porto district hosts local and international artists across five stages.

The festival opens with the Scorpions, a German rock band founded in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker, having sold over 100 million records.

Before the Scorpions, scheduled to perform at 23:00, the stage will host the Portuguese rock band Xutos & Pontapés, formed in late 1978.

On the same day, the festival features Hybrid Theory, a Portuguese tribute band to Linkin Park, known for their fidelity to the original band’s sound since their 2017 formation, and musician Marvin King, who released his first solo album, “El Dorado,” in 2020.

On Saturday, a day nearly sold out, Thirty Seconds to Mars will headline the main stage with their sixth studio album “It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day,” released in September.

Portuguese artists Miguel Araújo and Os Quatro e Meia, Nena and Joana Almeirante, and Luis Trigacheiro & Buba Espinho round out the second day’s lineup.

Brazilian singer, songwriter, DJ, and music producer Pedro Sampaio, 26, will close the third and final day of Marés Vivas, where Calema, Ozuna, and Nenny will also perform.

Across the festival’s other four stages, attendees can also enjoy performances by Insert Coin, Milhanas, Jéssica Pina, Zarco, Jimmy P., Beatriz Rosário, Lhast, and Tiago Nacarato.

This year’s festival edition features a new Ferris wheel and a zip line, as well as a larger and more diverse food court.
