Demand for event spaces is skyrocketing, but 97% of requests go unanswered, according to data released Monday by the Fixando services platform. These findings indicate a significant imbalance between demand and the availability of spaces.
“In the first six months of the year, more than 5,000 rental requests were recorded in this category, making it one of the most sought after on the platform. However, 97% of these requests went unanswered, revealing a clearly insufficient supply,” reads a statement received by Notícias ao Minuto.
And the prices?
The platform indicates that the average rental cost per event is around €438, with most requests, 61%, related to birthday parties.
“More than 60% of users are looking for spaces for up to 50 people, showing a preference for small, family-friendly, and accessible venues — such as farms, country houses, or urban terraces,” the released note states.
Alice Nunes, director of New Business at Fixando, is quoted in the same note, stating, “The data is clear: there is huge demand for event spaces in Portugal, but the supply has not yet caught up with this trend. It’s a great opportunity for property owners who, for some reason, are not yet in the circuit and can now turn them into a significant source of income.”
According to the platform, “with an average rate of €55 per hour, renting a space for three weekends and one day a week per month can result in an extra income of about €1,600.”
“Most recorded requests target locations that do not require large areas or excessive sophistication, just good conditions, basic equipment (tables, chairs, sound, lighting), and a welcoming environment,” the statement notes.

Where is the demand highest?
The data reveals that “birthday parties dominate the requests (61%), followed by baby showers (5%) and graduation parties (3%).”
“The districts with the highest demand are Lisbon (28%), Porto (22%), Setúbal (10%), Braga (9%), and Aveiro (7%),” it further reports.
Regarding space, 35% of users seek locations with both indoor and outdoor areas.
“The gap between demand and supply highlights the unexplored potential of this market. Spaces such as farms, villas, warehouses, lofts, or urban terraces, provided they have suitable conditions, can take on a new role as event venues, meeting a real need identified on the platform and generating additional income for their owners,” the platform reveals.
