Searches by land and sea to find young Moroccan Yassine Toukhsi, who has been missing on the north Canide beach in Gaoa since last Thursday, resumed on Sunday morning.

This Sunday, the search will no longer rely on the Air Force helicopter.

As well as the Maritime Police, there are also members of the Gaia Sappers and volunteer firefighters from Aguda, Coimbrões and Valadares. As in the last two days, a psychologist from the Northern Regional Command of the Maritime Police will also be at the scene this Sunday to support the family and friends.

On Saturday, the search was suspended at the end of the day, around 8.10pm, and was carried out one mile (1.6 kilometers) to the north, one mile to the south and two miles offshore.

For now, and as the days go by, what they want most is for “at least the body to appear so there can be a farewell,” a friend of the young man told JN.

On Saturday afternoon, a group of Yassine’s friends, parents and teachers gathered on the beach in a heartfelt tribute to the young man, throwing white roses into the sea. His father, aged around 50, was also on the beach this Saturday, but in a separate group.

At the time of the disappearance of the young student from Inês de Castro Secondary School in Canidelo, the tide was out, but the waves were “strong and pulling”.
