During the day, a boat from the Sagres Life-Saving Station and three vehicles, two from the Lagos Maritime Police and one from the Vila do Bispo Fire Department, searched for signs of the missing person. The search efforts were concluded around 8:30 PM without finding the missing 29-year-old French national, according to the local commander of the Lagos Maritime Police.
The same official emphasized that the search operations, which are set to resume on Tuesday at 7:30 AM, also included support from a team utilizing drones from the Lagos Civil Protection Unit during the afternoon.
“In the morning, we had a boat with two crew members, along with three vehicles—two from the Maritime Police and one from the fire department—and in the afternoon, we added a team with a drone from the Lagos Civil Protection,” said the source.
The local commander of the Lagos Maritime Police confirmed that both the paraglider, identified via its serial number, and a vehicle parked in the area belong to the same individual, a 29-year-old French national.
“A psychological support unit from the Maritime Police has been activated and is in contact with the family,” added Commander Hugo da Guia.
On Tuesday at 7:30 AM, search operations will resume initially by sea and land, with plans to include one or two teams with drones by around 9:00 AM.
The searches were already underway in the morning via sea and land, although no official disappearance had been reported at that time.
The operation was initiated late Sunday afternoon after a local reported seeing a paragliding apparatus in the water, prompting authorities to undertake the search.
The search operations, taking place south of Praia das Furnas in Vila do Bispo, Faro district, involved approximately ten members of the Maritime Police, the Sagres Life-Saving Station, the Vila do Bispo Fire Department, and the Lagos Civil Protection Unit.
