The Regional Command of the Madeira Police reported in a written statement that search efforts are underway “in the last known cell triangulation area of the missing person’s mobile phone, specifically in the Levada dos Tornos.”
The Levada dos Tornos is the longest in the autonomous region, spanning over 100 kilometers and crossing several municipalities.
The police added that the operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Regional Civil Protection Service, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, the Forest Police, and the National Republican Guard.
“At the moment, there is no further information to provide,” stated the police.
