“We are deploying resources, and searches are resuming now at 8:00 a.m. The helicopter is expected to arrive at 8:15 a.m.,” specified Commander Fernando Vieira Pereira of the Caminha Port, speaking to Lusa.

The vessel, carrying five people, capsized around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday in a rocky area near Ínsua Island, Moledo, in the municipality of Caminha, Viana do Castelo district.

Two of the five individuals were rescued and transported to the Hospital of Viana do Castelo.

Fernando Vieira Pereira announced today that the search efforts will be strengthened by the Air Force with a fixed-wing maritime patrol aircraft and a helicopter. Meanwhile, a rescue team from the Viana do Castelo station will operate on the water.

The Spanish Maritime Rescue team will join to patrol from the border to the port of La Guardia, along with a forensic diving group from the Maritime Police. On the beach, foot patrols will be conducted by volunteer firefighters from Vila Praia de Âncora and Caminha.
