
In a coordinated search operation led by the Captain of the Port and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Caminha, elements of the Port Captaincy and Local Command of the Maritime Police of Caminha, crew members from the Viana do Castelo Lifesaving Station, and members of the Caminha and Vila Praia de Âncora Volunteer Firefighters are involved, as stated in a communiqué by the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
Preliminary information indicates that “the victim, a 62-year-old man, was engaged in recreational fishing aboard a vessel when, for unknown reasons, it capsized, leading to his disappearance at sea,” the authority added.
The Maritime Police Psychology Office continues to provide support to the victim’s family members.
