The humanitarian flotilla ship Adara, carrying Mariana Mortágua, the leader and deputy of the Bloco de Esquerda, was intercepted by Israeli forces on Wednesday afternoon.
Mortágua, while live on Instagram, shared the moment they were approached by Israelis.
“They are in front of our ship, had water cannons or some liquid product and are now coming this way. They tried to talk to the captain and ordered us to stop,” she described.
Then, voices can be heard saying “hands up.” “Can you put your hands up?”
Subsequently, the connection was lost – see the moment in the video above.
It should be noted that the vessels carrying the Portuguese individuals – Mariana Mortágua, Sofia Aparício, and Miguel Duarte – were intercepted, and the three were detained by Israeli forces. The detention of Mariana and Sofia Aparício was reported by Joana Mortágua.

Bloco de Esquerda leader and deputy Mariana Mortágua, along with actress Sofia Aparício, were detained by Israeli forces on Wednesday, according to Joana Mortágua on Instagram. She also indicated that “contact with the three [Portuguese] delegation members” was lost.
