
As reported by the ICA, cinema attendance in Portugal recorded its lowest figures of the year in September, with numbers falling below the 780,953 viewers in March and the 792,190 in February.
July marked the peak month for cinema attendance, reaching 1.1 million viewers.
However, when compared to the same month in the previous year, September showed a 15.4% increase in ticket sales, totaling 767,111 viewers.
Box office revenues for September amounted to 5.1 million euros, reflecting a 25.6% rise compared to September of the previous year.
In the first nine months of 2025, Portuguese cinemas generated a total of 53.8 million euros in box office revenue, a slight decrease of 0.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
In terms of audience numbers, from January to September, cinemas recorded 8.3 million admissions, representing a 4.3% decline compared to 2024.
In September, the most-watched film in Portugal was ‘The Conjuring 4: Extrema-unção,’ directed by Michael Chaves, which attracted 211,266 viewers and generated 1.5 million euros at the box office.
