A fire in Sabrosa, located in the Vila Real district, is currently being fought by 135 personnel and seven aerial units, as confirmed by a source from the Douro Sub-Regional Command.
The alert was raised at 14:23, and just over an hour later, 32 vehicles were also involved in the operation, the source revealed.
The same source reported no houses are at risk and there are no injuries.
Continental Portugal will enter an alert situation from Sunday through Thursday due to the high risk of fires in the coming days, announced the Minister of Internal Administration today.
“In light of worsening weather forecasts indicating a significant risk of rural fires, the Government has decided to declare an alert situation across the entire mainland,” stated Maria Lúcia Amaral in a national address without questions allowed.
The alert situation will be effective from 00:00 on Sunday until 23:59 on Thursday, August 7.
