Seven establishments inspected in Lisbon. Thirteen notifications issued.

The inspection of seven dining and nightlife establishments located in the parishes of Alvalade, Olivais, and Parque das Nações led to several legal actions: one citation for lack of premises license, three for missing or improperly installed fire extinguishers, one for not having a complaints book, one for lacking prior communication to the event promoter, and three for failure to issue receipts.

Four notifications were also issued requiring documentation submission.

In one of the establishments, a snack-bar in the Olivais area, the owner had illegally opened a trapdoor in the store’s concrete slab, creating an unauthorized storage space in the building’s foundation area without permission or notification to the Lisbon City Council.

The PSP reported that the owner created “an illegal storage space by ‘digging the earth’ in the building’s foundation area, resulting in an inappropriate dormitory area.”

Contacted for further details on this case, Daniela Janeiro, sub-commissioner of the Olivais police station, explained that the basement was being improperly used by the owner and another person for residential purposes.

The inspection operation was conducted—on unspecified dates—by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through the 2nd Police Division, in conjunction with external entities, including the Lisbon Municipal Police, Tax Authority, and the General Inspection of Cultural Activities.
