The data relates to the national campaign “Cinto-me Vivo,” during which 2,963 accidents were recorded.
“Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents was identical, with nine fewer fatalities, 12 more serious injuries, and seven fewer minor injuries,” the PSP stated in a communiqué.
The same source indicated that the seven fatalities included six men and one woman, aged between 18 and 76 years.
The seven fatal accidents occurred in the districts of Coimbra (two), Évora (one), Lisbon (one), Porto (one), and Setúbal (two).
“These incidents consisted of three collisions (involving six light vehicles and two motorcycles), three skids (involving one light vehicle, one motorcycle, and one bicycle), and one pedestrian hit (involving one light vehicle).
The accidents occurred on national roads and streets.
Within this campaign, 5,411,133 vehicles were automatically monitored by radar, with 53,836 by the Security Forces (PSP and GNR) and 5,357,297 by SINCRO — the National Speed Control System, overseen by the National Road Safety Authority.
The security forces inspected 75,176 vehicles and drivers in person.
Out of the total of 5,486,309 vehicles monitored during the campaign, 22,605 traffic violations were recorded, of which 648 were related to the non-use or improper use of safety devices.
Of these, 638 occurred on the mainland and 10 in the autonomous regions.
This was the ninth of 11 campaigns under the 2025 National Inspection Plan. Two more campaigns are scheduled until the end of the year, with one taking place each month, including awareness and inspection actions.
