Seven recreational fishermen were rescued on Saturday morning off the northern coast of Sines after encountering difficulties during their fishing activities, the National Maritime Authority announced in a statement.
The alert was raised at 8:44 AM by the Sines Volunteer Firefighters, reporting that seven recreational fishermen were stranded in a northern coastal area.
Crews from the Sines Lifeboat Station, members of the ‘SeaWatch’ Project, and the Local Command of the Sines Maritime Police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Personnel from the Sines Volunteer Firefighters also attended the location.
At the scene, it was found that the men were caught off guard by the rising tide and were unable to leave the area they were in.
“The crew members of the Lifeboat Station, in collaboration with members of the ‘SeaWatch’ Project, the Maritime Police, and the firefighters, rescued the victims, who were in good physical condition and did not require medical assistance, back to land, from where they departed on their own,” the statement clarified.
The Local Command of the Sines Maritime Police took charge of the incident.
