Several districts under yellow warning today and Tuesday due to rain

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere has increased the number of mainland districts under yellow warning today and Tuesday due to the forecast of showers, which may be accompanied by hail, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind.

The yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Évora, Guarda, Beja, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre until 9:00 PM today.

The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, and Coimbra will also be under a yellow warning from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecasts for today in the mainland include cloudy skies with periods of heavy showers, potentially strong, hail, and thunderstorms, especially inland and from the afternoon onward.

The forecast also indicates a slight increase in maximum temperatures on the North and Central coasts and a slight decrease in the Central inland area and the South region.

Minimum temperatures will range between 15 degrees Celsius (in Setúbal) and 21 (in Portalegre and Castelo Branco), and maximums between 25 (in Aveiro) and 34 (in Bragança).
