“An accident occurred at kilometer 149 of the A25, following the Açores junction, resulting in a serious injury to the driver of the light vehicle, a 37-year-old man, who was transported to the Hospital da Guarda,” according to a source from the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Beiras and Serra Estrela.
The alarm for the accident on the motorway linking Aveiro to Vilar Formoso was raised at 4:41 PM, mobilizing 12 operators from the Celorico da Beira firefighters, GNR, and Ascendi, the A25 concessionaire, supported by five vehicles.
“The highway remains closed until conditions allow for its reopening. Alternatively, traffic is being diverted via the EN16, starting from the Lajeosa do Mondego junction, or the old IP5, at the Açores/Sobral da Serra junction,” stated Civil Protection.
