The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a 60-year-old man in the early hours of April 30 in the Sacavém area of Lisbon, on suspicion of domestic violence against his wife and daughter.
The apprehension occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. after police were alerted to a domestic violence situation.
Upon arrival, “despite the situation seemingly being calm, there were individuals with injury marks”, according to a statement released by the security force on Saturday.
The officers sought to clarify the “details of the call with the mother and daughter” and “were informed it was a recurring situation and that moments earlier, the suspect had assaulted the daughter with a metal object, amid excessive alcohol consumption.”
“The suspect, who was initially calm, became aggressive towards his wife, threatening and insulting her in the presence of the police,” the statement adds, leading to his immediate arrest.
The suspect was presented to the Judicial Authority, where he was ordered to “stay away from the victim and remove his belongings from the residence.”
