A 42-year-old man was arrested by the National Republican Guard (GNR) on Monday for possession of illegal weapons in Peniche. The detention occurred after the suspect allegedly fired a compressed air gun at a driver following a road accident dispute in Lourinhã.
Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, authorities noticed the altercation and confirmed that one individual had discharged a weapon. This led to subsequent searches of the suspect’s vehicle and residence in Peniche.
During these searches, law enforcement seized a variety of items: six alarm guns, four compressed air guns, three defense aerosols, two airsoft guns, a bow, an artisanal sword, an axe, a saw, a katana, 139 blank cartridges, 85 compressed air canisters, 12 metal-tipped arrows, two wiper rods, and numerous boxes containing plastic and rubber balls for airsoft guns.

The man has been formally charged, and the case will now proceed under the jurisdiction of the Lourinhã Judicial Court.
