
A film has been awarded the Onofre Prize for Best Short Film, which includes an award amount of 3,000 euros, making it eligible for the Goya and Feroz Awards, according to a statement by the organizers.
‘Porta-te bem’, which tells the story of Filomena, who lives alone in a rural village in Portugal and has just discovered she doesn’t have long to live, also won the award for best original music, composed by Miguel Vilhena.
Among the Portuguese contenders, ‘À medida que fomos recuperando a mãe’ by Gonçalo Waddington was recognized, receiving the audience award.
At the 31st edition of the festival, Portuguese filmmaker Gonçalo Almeida was honored with the best screenplay award for ‘Atom & Void’, a film that takes the audience into Valya’s den, where a repetitive noise disturbs her life, pushing her into the unknown.
The Olivença audience award went to ‘Ne me quitte pás’ by Karim Hoo Do, while the San Vicente de Alcántara award was given to ‘All you need is love’ by Dany Ruz.
The children’s audience award went to ‘Lights’ by Aitana Cantero and María Isabel Sáiz, while the young jury award went to ‘De Sucre’ by Cláudia Cedo, which also received the award for best female performance.
“El Príncep” by Alex Sardá was recognized for best cinematography, best direction, and best male performance.
‘Happy Hour’ by Nico Romero and Álvaro Monje received the Reyes Abade award for the best short film from Extremadura.
The 31st Iberian Film Festival featured five Portuguese short films in a selection of 21, chosen from over 1,200 submissions.
