
When one is new in a place, there are confrontations and anxieties that affect the experience in this new universe,” explains Teatro do Bairro about the show it hosts, describing it as a “manifesto on the adaptation process of a woman in a foreign country, based on testimonies from interpreters and narratives collected from local communities.”
In ‘Cuecas em 8’, the dancers explore how the various symptoms of adaptation, shared by women from different nationalities, manifest in the performance, it adds.
With conception and artistic direction by Ana Mula, the performance features interpretations by Carina Hofmann, Irene Manso, and Marianna Diroma.
Executive production and mediation are managed by Rita Pessoa, lighting design and operation by Octavio Gómez, and ‘Cuecas em 8’ features an original soundtrack by Blanc Motif with sound operation by André Leite. Choreography support is provided by Darya Efrat and Francesca Perrucci.
Paula Barrosa supports the writing, and the photographic record is by Rui Pedro Ribeiro.
The show results from artistic residencies with Companhia Instável, Visões Úteis Associação, AADK Spain — Centro Negra, and has institutional support from Fundação GDA, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Direção Geral das Artes, Ciclo Palcos Instáveis, Teatro Municipal do Porto, and Teatro Circo Murcia.
The performance is scheduled for a single session on the 15th at 6:00 PM.
