SIBS reveals accounts: For every euro it invests, it generates almost three in the economy

Each euro invested by SIBS generates, on average, 2.53 euros in national economic production, based on data released this Tuesday by the manager of the Multibanco network, citing a study from the Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE).

The company’s activity contributed 752.6 million euros to national production, with a gross value added (GVA) of 385.7 million euros and the generation of 61.9 million euros in tax revenue (VAT and IRS). The organization secured 189.2 million euros in wages and supported, directly or indirectly, 7,223 full-time equivalent jobs, according to a statement accessed by Notícias ao Minuto.

The operator adds that with a strong multiplier effect, each euro invested by SIBS generates, on average, 2.53 euros of production in the national economy, with each job created corresponding, on average, to the creation of more than six (6.43) new jobs in associated sectors.

“This study clearly demonstrates the growing impact of SIBS on the national economy. We reaffirm our commitment to Portuguese society, innovation, and building the future. We continue to invest to position Portugal at the forefront of technology and payments in Europe. We are betting on training and creating opportunities for Portuguese talent to develop technology and national solutions with global projection,” stated Madalena Tomé, CEO of the SIBS group, as cited in the release.

“We want to continue to be an active agent in the country’s economic and digital development, reinforcing the role of SIBS and Portugal as a reference in the payment sector,” she added.
