A 23-year-old man was arrested in Amadora on Wednesday, July 16, on suspicion of fabricating a crime, the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) revealed in a statement released to Notícias ao Minuto on Thursday.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 15, when the PSP ordered a stop to a motorbike rider performing “freestyle” maneuvers.

According to the officers, the individual not only disobeyed the stop order but also fled on the vehicle and later directed the motorbike towards the police vehicle to escape on foot, causing “significant damage” to the patrol car.

Officers on the scene managed to “observe the suspect’s characteristics,” yet were unable to intercept him.

Hours later, the suspect arrived at the Queluz PSP station to report the theft of the motorbike. However, his story contained various “inconsistencies.”

When faced with the possibility that the motorbike had not been stolen and that he was the person behind the maneuvers causing damage to the patrol car, the man confessed.

Consequently, he was arrested and handcuffed. After completing all procedural steps, he was released but notified to appear in court for an initial judicial interrogation.
