
“At the moment, we have one active front, while all other fronts have been dominated, although with lengthy consolidation and cooling efforts required, indicating that the work is far from over—we still have a lot ahead of us,” stated Miguel David, Commander of Rescue Operations, at 08:00.
According to the official, the operation continues with 548 personnel, 178 vehicles, and six tracked machines still in action.
“We have already planned the deployment of six aerial resources as soon as they can operate to assist in the cooling operations,” added Miguel David.
The active front is located in the Alvão mountain range, between Galegos da Serra and Arnal.
This fire broke out at 23:45 on Saturday in Sirarelhos, Vila Real, and on Sunday, spread to the Mondim de Basto municipality.
