Data indicates that the Gynecology and Obstetrics emergency departments at Garcia de Orta Hospital in Almada, São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal, Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, and Santo André Hospital in Leiria are scheduled to close on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency department at Setúbal Hospital will reopen, but only for cases referred by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM). The departments in Almada, Vila Franca de Xira, and Leiria will remain closed.
Pediatric emergency services at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures and Vila Franca de Xira Hospital will also be closed over the weekend, according to the updated Emergency Scales from the National Health Service (SNS) as reported by local health units.
The pediatric emergency department at Amadora-Sintra Hospital will be operating on a referenced basis during the weekend, from midnight to 8 a.m. and from 8 p.m. to midnight. It will only attend to emergencies that are internal or referred by INEM or the SNS 24 hotline.
Health authorities urge the public to contact the SNS24 hotline (808 24 24 24) before heading to an emergency department to receive proper guidance.
