
Six emergency departments will be closed on Saturday and another six on Sunday, including five gynecology and obstetrics and one pediatric, according to the National Health Service (SNS) Portal consulted at 10:30 AM today.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology emergencies at the hospitals in Aveiro, Vila Franca de Xira, Setúbal, and Leiria, and the Gynecology emergency in Caldas das Rainhas will be closed on Saturday, as well as the pediatric emergency in Vila Franca de Xira.
On Sunday, the emergency departments of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Barreiro, Vila Franca de Xira, Santarém, Aveiro, and Leiria and the pediatric emergency in Vila Franca de Xira will be closed.
Today, four Gynecology and Obstetrics emergencies are closed: Almada (Garcia de Orta), Setúbal, Vila Franca de Xira, and Abrantes.
Concerning the referenced emergencies, which only receive cases directed by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) or the SNS 24 line, the portal indicates that these will operate under this regime on Saturday and Sunday: Pediatric emergencies at Doctor Fernando da Fonseca Hospital (Amadora-Sintra) during the night (00:00/08:00 and from 20:00 to 24:00) and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (Loures).
Also operating under this scheme are the Obstetrics and Gynecology emergencies at Braga Hospital, Amadora-Sintra, S. Francisco Xavier (Lisbon, only on Saturday), and Setúbal (only on Sunday).
Today, the portal indicates that the pediatric emergency of Amadora-Sintra is referenced from 20:00/24:00 and those of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Braga and S. Francisco Xavier.
Health authorities appeal to the public to contact the SNS24 Line (808 24 24 24) for proper guidance before heading to an emergency department.
