Former union leaders Manuel Carvalho da Silva, Arménio Carlos, and Isabel Camarinha of CGTP, along with José Manuel Torres Couto, João Proença, and Carlos Silva of UGT, have jointly issued a manifesto calling on workers to “actively” participate in the general strike scheduled for December 11. This information was obtained by the press agency Lusa.
The manifesto criticizes the labor package, emphasizing that it is unfavorable. It states, “The negative nature of the labor package is evident from the fact that Luís Montenegro’s AD Government hid its intention to approve new labor legislation in its electoral program. If it were beneficial for workers, the government would have publicized it to gain more votes.”
