“The six severely injured victims are all male,” revealed a representative of the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command. It was disclosed by the Alto Alentejo Local Health Unit that two of the injured, including a child, were transported to the hospital in Portalegre.
Two others were taken to the hospital in Elvas, also in the district of Portalegre, and two victims were transported to the Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora (HESE) in another Alentejo district.
Initially, the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command reported that four of the injured had been taken to the hospital in Portalegre and the other two to the hospital in Elvas, but this information has been corrected by the Alto Alentejo Local Health Unit source.
The alert for this road collision, involving two passenger cars, was given to authorities at 07:04, according to the Civil Protection.
The accident occurred on Regional Road 243-1 (ER243-1) in Vila Fernando, municipality of Elvas, district of Portalegre.
A total of 35 personnel were mobilized to the scene, supported by 15 vehicles, including firefighters, GNR, and the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), specifically with the medium emergency and resuscitation vehicle from the Portalegre hospital and Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulances from Elvas and Estremoz.
