Six youths aged between 16 and 19 were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of robbery and qualified physical assault, committed on July 19 in the municipality of Paredes.
The individuals, apprehended in the municipalities of Freamunde, Paços de Ferreira, and Penafiel, appeared before the Judicial Court of Paredes on Thursday. They were prohibited from contacting each other, approaching the victim within 500 meters, and leaving their residential areas.
Additionally, they are required to report daily to the police stations in their respective residential areas, according to a statement from the National Republican Guard (GNR).
The arrests followed the release of a video of the assaults on social media, according to authorities.
This operation was conducted by the Porto Territorial Command through the Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NIC) of Penafiel.

General crime, recorded by the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Public Security Police (PSP), the Judiciary Police (PJ), the Maritime Police, the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE), the Tax and Customs Authority (AT), and the Military Judiciary Police, totaled 354,878 reports in 2024, 17,117 fewer than in 2023.
