The SNQTB, following its initiative and persistence, announced that the DGERT [General Directorate of Employment and Labor Relations] has presented a negotiation proposal to the parties, based on the proposal put forward by the union, according to a statement released by the SNQTB today.
The union adds that the proposal prioritizes matters related to remuneration and other financial compensations, aiming to move the mediation process to the next stage.
This concerns the resumption of the mediation process with the DGERT, announced by the SNQTB in September, following Banco CTT’s refusal to enter into a collective labor agreement for its employees.
According to the SNQTB, the advancement of collective bargaining is well-supported, referring to the support for this instrument found in the Portuguese Constitution and Labor Code.
“This framework values social dialogue and collective bargaining as fundamental pillars for promoting productivity, labor security, and social justice,” the union notes.
The DGERT’s proposal is considered by the union as particularly relevant in promoting collective negotiation.
“The SNQTB is confident that Banco CTT will respond positively to the proposal and will respect the prudent and balanced approach of the DGERT, initiating a genuine negotiation process with the union under the current mediation procedure,” the workers’ representative body adds.
As of the end of 2024, Banco CTT employed 450 workers, according to data from the Portuguese Banking Association (APB).
