The Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security has announced that a new measure will take effect in September, marking what it deems a “significant change for a sector that employs approximately 300,000 workers.”
The ministry statement emphasizes that “financial stability of the Social and Solidarity Sector is a government priority,” noting the recent historic increase in Social Security contributions amounting to 220 million euros.
By advancing the payments on cooperation agreements, institutions within the social and solidarity sector will have “greater liquidity when fulfilling their Social Security commitments,” the ministry notes, highlighting the significant impact on the operations of these institutions.
The ministry further details that, “for the first time, the increase in contributions was determined based on a study of the actual costs of each response,” and credits this advancement in payment to “technological changes implemented as part of the ongoing Digital Transformation in Social Security.”
