Social Security surplus increases to 4,745.4 million by September

A report released by the Budgetary Authority (formerly DGO — General Directorate of Budget) indicates that the accumulated value up to September exceeds 4.308 billion euros reported in the corresponding period of the previous year.

By August, the surplus was at 4.408 billion euros, marking an increase compared to the previous month.

The actual revenue reached 33.434 billion euros, while actual expenditure was 28.689 billion euros.

Notable sections include transfers from the European Union related to the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which increased by 51.1% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, expenses related to the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly rose by 42.6%.

Conversely, reductions were observed in areas such as the Social Integration Income, which fell by 3.9% relative to the previous year, and exceptional and temporary measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which have been gradually phased out and saw a decrease of 74.1%.
