Social Security will launch a new website next week (and gives a warning)

The Social Security Institute (ISS) announced that starting next week, beneficiaries will have access to a new Social Security portal. The launch is expected to come with periods of instability when accessing the organization’s website.

The new portal will merge the ISS informational site with the Social Security Direct:

“Next week, the new Social Security Portal will be launched, resulting from the integration between the current Informative Portal and Social Security Direct,” stated an ISS press release.

The ISS notes that “this new digital space was developed with the aim of modernizing, simplifying, and making the information and services provided by Social Security more accessible.”

In a single portal, users will have access both to informational content and existing transactional functionalities, now with more intuitive navigation focused on their needs.

Need to access the portal? Be aware

Those needing to access the Social Security portal should note that “periods of instability” are expected between July 5 and 6 due to technical interventions required for this change.

“To ensure a safe technical transition, periods of unavailability are scheduled for July 5 and 6. During this time, access to services will be temporarily suspended, making it impossible to carry out operations,” the press release further explained.

Social Security adds that this is “another initiative integrated into the Primeiro Pessoas program, which is digitally transforming Social Security with the goal of modernizing and increasing service efficiency, putting people and companies at the center of the strategy.”

Have you checked out the Social Security support simulator?

In May, Social Security announced the launch of a simulator revealing potential entitlements to social support or subsidies. “This is a new digital tool aimed at simplifying access to information about available social benefits,” the ISS explained at the time.

The new Social Security simulator allows citizens to learn “in a simple and fast way what social benefits they may eventually be entitled to,” the ISS said.

The simulator operates intuitively, enabling citizens to quickly know their potential social benefits based on entered data, although the result is not binding.

What will you need? According to the ISS, to fill out the simulator with the most accurate responses, you will need some information, which you can consult upon starting the process, taking an average of seven minutes.

“This simulator covers most Social Security benefits. The results presented depend solely on the data you enter and are not binding,” the organization emphasizes.

Furthermore, the “benefits displayed in the simulation results apply to the person conducting the simulation and their dependents,” whereas “for other household members to know the benefits they might be entitled to, such as unemployment benefits, they should simulate themselves.”
